Hot Chip w/ "One Life Stand"

This is the first single off of their latest album, released earlier this month. It really reminds me of synth work being done around 20 years ago, give or take a few years. Not that it is entirely retro either, but gives a fresh take on the music that I loved from back then. Hope this is one everyone can enjoy.

It is nice to see a band of this size, being able to put out such good music, and also able to do a good job on the live stage as well.

The album is also called "One Life Stand", and is now available via all of the usual merchants. Don't forget to visit their website. The band also sends out tweets, apparently. Follow them on Twitter via @Hot_Chip.

They're on Facebook too.

Cut Copy - Future

One of many songs that are in heavy rotation when I have the chance to play some music. Beautiful stuff. Sometimes I think nobody makes good music anymore, and then other times I find out some brilliant tracks are still being put out.

La Roux - Bulletproof

It can be very uplifting to find some great music that you were not previously aware of. My latest round of it began when I came upon this song after hearing it used in a mashup.

MGMT - Time To Pretend

A brilliant song from MGMT. I recently discovered this one, after having "Electric Feel" for a while. I am really enjoying this song right now.

MGMT - Electric Feel

Another fantastic song. I have actually had this one in rotation on my iPod for quite a while, but it has made its way back into heavy rotation recently.

Passion Pit - Little Secrets

Another song I have been listening to as much as I can.

Passion Pit - The Reeling

A song I have been listening to a lot lately.

DJ Hero...

When my son finds out about this, he is definitely going to want this game!

Daft Punk is featured in parts of it, which is one of his favorite musical acts.

I'm just sorting out the Daft Punk tracks that have video samples right now. There is a lot more to like about this game, though. I will find more and post them sometime later.

Mahnahmahnah!

Probably the best thing ever done on The Muppet Show, which is generally filled with excellence to begin with.

The Yes Men Fix The World (2009) Trailer

I look forward to seeing this film. As time goes by, I realize that I am a huge fan of culture jamming. I wonder how well it pays...?

The Other Two - Selfish

Fantastic song that was released by two members of New Order (drummer Stephen Morris and keyboardist Gillian Gilbert) in the mid-90s.

Preview Imogen Heap's new album: Ellipse (being released next Tuesday, August 25th in the US)

So far "First Train Home", "Swoon", and "Tidal" strike me as early favorites. I bought a pre-order version of the release through iTunes that will also provide instrumental versions of each track, plus an additional video from Imogen. It should be good stuff!

Los Plumabits - Disco Laser

Not sure what they are talking about, but it has a nice groove and a wild Krofft-style video.
